About 60 children received a coaching lesson in open water swimming from two Aussie champions at Williamstown on Sunday.
Record-setting English Channel marathon swimmer Chloe McCardel and five-time Lorne Pier to Pub winner Sam Sheppard visited Williamstown beach for the swimming clinics.
McCardel recently became the first Australian to complete a continuous English Channel triple crossing, swimming more than 115 kilometres in 36 hours and 12 minutes.
Sheppard is currently swimming 80 kilometres a week in the pool as he trains for Rio Olympics selection trials.
He will be swimming against world champion Jordan Wilimovsky at the Victorian Open Water Championships and Williamstown Open Water (WOW) Challenge at Williamstown beach on December 19.
More than 1000 entrants are expected to swim in the state’s only FINA-sanctioned open-water event. Details at Williamstown SLSC website.
