A Victoria University lecturer is sharing the stories behind one of the AFL’s most iconic moments.
Sunshine author Matthew Klugman has teamed up with writer Gary Osmond to produce Black and Proud.
The book explores the events of April 17, 1993, when St Kilda footballer Nicky Winmar stood up to taunts from a Collingwood crowd by pulling up his jumper, pointing to his skin and declaring he was proud to be black.
The book will be launched at Yarraville’s Sun Theatre on Friday at 6.30pm. Entry is free.
