Californication: 11 Freyer Street, Williamstown, 3016

If a picture-perfect facade, high-spec finishes, imaginative spaces and a relaxed luxe aesthetic are on your checklist, this house could be perfect for you.

The renovation of this classic California bungalow was designed and executed by a registered builder as his family home.

11 Freyer Street, Williamstown, 3016

The Edwardian facade is perfectly finished and refreshed, with the contemporary take on the picket fence lining the front of a simply landscaped front yard.

After entering from the wide, return spotted gum-decked verandah, the first and second bedrooms flank the entryway. They are both carpeted and have high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling country-chic wardrobing with custom built-in desks.

Roasted black butt floorboards lead to the first of two main bedrooms, with a stunning en suite featuring the same tapware and quality finishes as the main bathroom that follows.

The main bathroom is designer-savvy with Corrian benchtops, Parisi tapware, a therapeutic stone bath and twin basin vanity set against a feature wall and double-length frameless shower.

The kitchen and family-meals zone further strives for perfection.

Corrian stone features again top shadow line white 2pac kitchen cabinetry. Siemens appliances, including a gas cooktop, self-cleaning oven, convection oven and semi-integrated dishwasher, complement twin Liebherr wine fridges integrated into the island bench.

Cleverly, further wine storage has been found in place of a splashback – both accessible and design savvy.

Large picture windows and glass sliding doors showcase a wall garden with sprinkler system.

In the courtyard there is an integrated barbecue, outdoor fridge, two outdoor heaters and a ceiling fan. Back inside, up the open-style contemporary staircase there’s a theatre room with cathedral ceilings, a dedicated study and the second main bedroom.

Here, another high-spec en suite is accessed via twin walk-through wardrobes.

Enjoy touring a detail-rich residence where every square has been considered, where no expense on quality has been spared – and where the modern-day ideal of contemporary luxury has been articulated thoroughly.
