Skate art

Artist Brett Ashby will focus on stencil and paste-up creations at his free workshops for young people, which will culminate in public art pieces at Yarraville Skate Park. The workshops for people 12-25 years old will be at Phoenix Youth Centre, 72 Buckley Street, 4.30-5.30pm Thursdays, and a paint day from 2pm Saturday, August 29.

Film screenings at Altona Theatre will kick off this year’s Altona Beach Film Festival Gala Awards on August 22. Check out the works of talented local and foreign film makers.

Car boot sale

Hobsons Bay Men’s Shed hosts a car boot sale, 10am-3pm Saturday, at 280 Queen Street, Altona (old EPA building). Sites $10, entry free, sausage sizzle on the day.
