Follow the crumbs … to Footscray’s Bluestone Church Arts Space for a special school holiday treat.

Created by wit incorporated artistic director Belinda Campbell, the musical adventure Fairy Tale News will bring laughs for the young and young at heart from April 2 to 8.

The show, featuring a cast of fairytale characters, centres on Granny’s basket of goodies.

Featuring toe-tapping songs, colourful costumes and jokes for all ages, the show’s hosts, Hansel and Gretel, take children and adults on a celebration of favourite children’s stories through the lens of modern media.

Director Jennifer Piper says the Melbourne International Comedy Festival show brings fairytales to life, editing them for broadcast.

Fairy Tale News brings classic fairytales and a real-world setting crashing together with hilarious results.

“We love surprising and exciting our audiences, especially those who might be visiting the theatre for the first time.”

Having trained as a broadcaster, Jennifer is well placed to parody the news show format.

“I look forward to celebrating the more ridiculous parts of children’s fiction and broadcast media in a way that leaves audiences grinning until their faces hurt.”

Following the success of their ticket giveaways for February’s production of

Locals can grab free tickets to the preview performance on April Fool’s Day, Friday, April 1, by emailing their name and address to hello@witinc.com.au Tickets for other shows are on sale now at witinc.com.au/whats-on/ftn
