Children will be able to view Seddon from a different perspective on Saturday as part of two guided “surrealism” tours through the suburb.
Organised by children’s creative hub Little Creatures Collective and Wynter Projects, the 45-minute walking tours will take children to hidden pockets of Seddon to take in surrealist performances and projections.
The tours are part of Little Creature Collective’s third birthday celebrations and will finish at a surrealist dance party.
Organiser Chantal Wynter said the tours would visit four sites around the suburb, at which participants will be treated to performances from local artists or musicians.
“It’s a wacky tour – it’s a different way of seeing Seddon,” she said. “It’s a creative way of seeing Seddon from a child’s perspective.”
Little Creatures Collective founder Beck Ferguson said surrealism helped children explore the impossible and illogical thoughts they conjured up in their imaginations.
Dance party guests are being encouraged to dress up in the surrealist style.
The tours start at 99 Buckley Street, Seddon at 9.30am and 11am, finishing at Seddon Uniting Church on the corner of Gamon and MacKay streets.
