Lady Midnight swings again

Six-piece swing band Lady Midnight will perform its third gig as part of the Live at Newport series, supporting Newport Folk Festival regulars and cult-urban folk band The Timbers.

Lady Midnight manager and double-bass player Josh Milgate said the band was influenced by 1930s swing bands, gypsy music and jazz.

“We’ve been working together for close to year but we’ve only just started doing gigs,” he said.

“It’s old-style swing with a modern twist.” Live at Newport is at Newport Bowls Club on October 11 from 2pm.
