Cabaret is coming to the west as Footscray’s own Miss Friby teams up with The Reverence Hotel for a special run of shows.

Australia’s Got Talent finalist and Green Room Award nominee Elizabeth Dawson-Smith – also known as Miss Friby – will transform the hotel into a pop-up speakeasy for four nights.

The born-and-bred Footscray performer said the suburb was more than ready for a cabaret and burlesque event of its own.

“I really want to bring the cabaret experience to my home ground,” she said.

“We will have a four-piece live band … as well as myself performing along with my favourite performers that I’ve worked with in the past.”

Dawson-Smith’s Miss Friby has a cult following among Australia’s burlesque, cabaret and physical theatre community.

She said she was certain there was bound to be broad interest in the west for colourful cabaret shows.

“In our community, a lot of us are artists and there are definitely a lot of people who want to enjoy a night out and be able to walk home,” she said.

Part of the 10th Big West Festival, the 90-minute show,

Miss Friby – All Alone … at last!, will be at The Reverence Hotel, 28 Napier street, Footscray, from 8pm nightly, November 25 to 28. Tickets $28/$25. Bookings: www.missfriby.com
