Seabrook Primary School pupils have spring in their step

Seabrook Primary School pupils are hitting the pavement this month, swapping being driven to school for walking.

The school is one of nine across Hobsons Bay and Maribyrnong that have signed up to be part of VicHealth’s Walk to School Month.

The statewide event encourages children to get active by walking, cycling or scooting to and from school throughout October. Seabrook Primary School grade 4 teacher Helen Takano says most of the school’s 800 pupils are taking part.

“It’s a great initiative to encourage our students to begin and continue healthy travel habits and spend more time with family and friends travelling to school,” Ms Takano said.

“Being spring, it’s a great way to get our students out of the house and car to enjoy the sunshine.”
