There’s nothing trivial about the latest fundraising effort by Church Street Children’s Centre.

The West Footscray centre is holding a trivia night to raise funds for outdoor play equipment as part of a planned centre overhaul that will add 31 new places.

While Maribyrnong council is topping up a $350,000 state government grant, parents are banding together to ensure the new outdoor play areas provide a fun space for the kids.

Committee secretary Annie Wormald said the not-for-profit centre occasionally held smaller fundraisers such as sausage sizzles but this project required something more.

“We are going through a redevelopment which will include some things, but the responsibility of the centre is to provide additional funds to support the council with the refurbishment,” she said.

The trivia night will include extra activities such as raffles, games and a silent auction.

Organisers are hoping the wider community will join in the fun and help support the centre. Ms Wormald said the committee would love to hear from businesses wanting to support the fundraiser.

Tickets to the fundraiser, at Footscray Park Bowling Club from 7pm on November 21, are available via the centre for $20 each or $180 per table of 10. To donate, email ryan_dw@hotmail.com or churchstcommittee@gmail.com.
