People can walk the ‘light fantastic’ at Footscray next month, with the return of West Projections.
Footscray will be transformed after dark over three weekends as 12 artists explore the theme of food, through video projection and amplified sound across a dozen sites.
Organiser Chantal Wynter says the projections will trace a unique visual trajectory, illustrating food accessibility and migration, to cultural understanding and survival.
“This year we have a few sound pieces as well,” she adds.
Wynter says the guided artist walks – a highlight of last year’s inaugural event – will be back again. Sites old and new will feature, from Footscray favourite Cavallaro and Sons to new kids on the block at Littlefoot Bar.
“The guided walks are going to be the main focus … it’s only limited numbers, so people will need to RSVP.”
West Projections 2015 is on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, August 6-22, with guided walks on Saturdays only.
