Councillors go to top of the class

HOBSONS Bay councillors swapped their chambers for the classroom
last week as they headed back to school for the Principal for a Day
program.

The annual program helps schools build relationships with
successful business and community leaders and provides valuable insight
into the modern classroom.

Mayor Angela Altair, who took charge of students at Williamstown
Primary School, said she was looking forward to swapping leadership
notes with school principal Andrea Duxson.

“Speaking with Andrea about the challenges and opportunities that
primary education can offer is going to be a great insight and benefit
of the day,” she said.

Wetlands ward councillors Colleen Gates and Luba Grigorovitch took
charge at Seabrook Primary School, with Cr Gates labelling the
initiative an opportunity to see what was important to the next
generation and learn how to better engage young people.

Cr Grigorovitch said it was great to see how rapidly and dramatically schools had changed in such a short time.

Cherry Lake ward councillors got in on the act too, with Tony
Briffa visiting Altona Meadows Primary School and Sandra Wilson due at
Altona P-9 College on Wednesday.
