It’s a world filled with sugar and spice and not all things nice that Joanne Evangelia hopes to conquer.
Altona Meadows’ own pin-up girl has entered the Miss Lady Kingpin “greaser chick” competition. Its theme is a take on the 1950s pin-up look with a rough edge – leather, latex, skulls and tattoos.

Ms Evangelia, 27, got into the pin-up scene after watching a documentary on Elvis Presley.
“It showed a side to Elvis I never knew. I immediately fell in love,” she said.
“The very next day I bought all the Elvis CDs I could find and the music led to my fashion sense.
“I loved the way the clothing made me look, how everything embraced my curves. I remember feeling like a lady and accepting my naturally curvy shape.
“The great thing about this scene is it attracts positive people. It’s all about good music, having fun, sexy chicks, hot cars and great hair!”
More than 20 women have entered the competition, which will be judged by the number of ‘likes’ an entrant’s photo receives on Facebook.
Ms Evangelia says she hopes to win the competition because it could open doors to a pin-up modelling career.
“I have been a singer and dancer since I was 18 and now I’d like to try modelling pin-up clothing.
“I would love to be featured in a magazine or used for a pin-up clothing website.”
“I’m also excited about meeting other pin-up models and making new friends.”
The winner will be announced on May 25.
