Seddon: Three women unhurt as car ploughs into shop wall

Three women were lucky to escape without injury when the car in which they were travelling ploughed through a metal barrier and into a shop wall in Seddon on Tuesday.

The car crashed through the barrier on the corner of Victoria and Charles streets about noon, coming to rest against the wall in front of a café and bottle shop.

No pedestrians were involved and the often busy al fresco dining area of Chicco café was empty as the café remains closed on Tuesdays.

A Footscray Cellars worker said they were about to open the store when he heard a loud crash from the front.

“I went out and they had come through and into the wall,” he said.

Police attended the scene and a tow-truck worked to untangle the car from the twisted barrier.
