Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted at Footscray railway station last week.
Two men were involved in an altercation on the Irving Street side of the station, near the bus stop, about 5.30pm on July 1.
A 21-year-old Melton man suffered serious injuries and was taken to the Western Hospital for treatment.
A number of people assisted the victim at the scene and police are particularly keen to speak to a woman who tried to stop the altercation.
The offender is described as being of Southern European appearance, about 178 centimetres tall, thin build and with brown hair.
