Laverton: Man killed after being hit by train

A man died after being hit by train at Laverton about 10.45am on Thursday.

A Victoria Police spokesman said officers were at the scene.

Metro spokeswoman Pauline O’Connor said buses would replace trains between Werribee and Newport for several hours.

“We have to wait for line clearance from the emergency services: usually, it takes a few hours.”

Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatality.

The man’s identity has not been released.
