Yarraville girl’s abduction bid: Police seek witnesses

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have information about an alleged attempted abduction of a young girl in Yarraville last week.

The 11-year-old was walking in Francis Street at 3.25pm on Monday, September 8 when a windowless white commercial van pulled up beside her.

She refused the driver’s request to get inside and ran home to alert her parents after he persisted.

The driver of the van is described as being of Indian appearance, about 30 years old, with a slim build and distinctive scarring on his inner right forearm.

He was wearing an orange turban, black T-shirt and blue jeans.

Anyone with any information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
