A Footscray man rescued after being trapped in his car for more than three hours following a horrendous five-vehicle collision on the Princes Freeway at Point Cook last week has died.
The man’s car then struck a second truck, pushing it into a second car and that car then hit a third truck.
Crushed between two trucks, the man was finally pulled out after more than three hours and was airlifted to The Alfred hospital, but died on Sunday night.
There were no other injuries as a result of the incident.
Police are yet to formally interview the driver of the truck that struck the man’s car.
Detective Sergeant Chris Carnie from the Major Collision Investigation Unit said police continued to investigate the collision and urged anybody with information to come forward.
“We have done a lot of work around piecing together this collision and we are aware there were a number of other vehicles in the vicinity when it happened,” he said.
“We really need these drivers to come forward so we can speak to them and get a full picture of what’s happened.
“I urge the drivers, and these people know who they are, to make the call to Crime Stoppers so we can follow up with them.”
