An Australian whipcracking champion has had his work trailer stolen from outside his Altona home.
Nathan ‘Whippy’ Griggs, who is set to become the whipcracking world record holder, is offering a reward for the return of his trailer, which was stolen from outside his Blyth Street home on February 13.
Security footage shows a light-coloured Mitsubishi Triton ute towing the stolen trailer out of Sugargum Drive at 6.52pm.
The grey box trailer with three opening doors had a large new Nightingale silver tool box attached to the A-frame.
Its registration plate number is P89899.
Mr Griggs and his partner, Kim Eishold, had been decking out the trailer to head north to perform at shows and make and sell whips.
“We travel around Australia and earn a living out of the back of this trailer,” Mr Griggs said.
“For the past two years I’ve been travelling around Australia and I’ve just been working out of the back of my ute.
“I thought this year I’d upgrade to a trailer … I started a kitchen on one side and a workshop on the other.
“I’ll have to buy another trailer or something like that, but it won’t be anywhere near as good because I just don’t have the money to do it. It’s really set me back.”
Mr Griggs is currently waiting to see if his Guinness world record attempt has succeeded. He cracked two whips 530 times in one minute. The current record is 513.
