Williamstown resident Jeff Challis is inviting people to join him for a chat over a beer about the future of electric vehicles.
Mr Challis, an avid researcher about the subject, will speak at an event dubbed the EV Car Chat, to be held at Two Birds Brewing in Spotswood on Thursday.
He said that in the future, more home owners like himself would charge fully-electric cars with green electricity generated from roof-top solar panels.
“There’s a few studies that the city of Melbourne have done … by 2020 they’re expecting close to 40 per of cars to be EV,” Mr Challis said.
Residents are being invited to join a discussion about the best-performing models, what infrastructure is required and challenges such as cost.
Former CSIRO scientist Scott Watkins will show people under the hood of his Mitsubishi Outlander PHB (plug-in hybrid), and there will also be a Holden Volt for people to inspect.
The event will be from 7.30-9.30pm and booking is required – go to tinyurl.com/EV-Chat-Tickets
Entry is free or $10 to sample the beers.
