Police have released an image of a Tour de France bike stolen from Altona North this month.
The Scott racing bike had been inside a locked van parked outside a business in Westgate Drive on March 9.
About 6.50pm, someone smashed a window of the van to steal the Scott Foil Greenedge bike, which had been ridden in the Tour de France.
The bike had Shimano Dura Ace electronic Di2 gearing, a Shimano C24 wheel set, specialised red and white Romin saddle, and 3T bars, handle bars and stem.
Hobsons Bay crime investigation unit detectives are hoping someone will recognise the distinctive bike, which is worth about $10,000.
As reported by Star Weekly this month, police say an average of about one bike a day is being stolen in Hobsons Bay and often sold for a paltry amount.
Anyone with information is being urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or crimestoppers.com.au.
