Hobsons Bay Business Excellence Awards nominations open

Nominations have opened for the Hobsons Bay Business Excellence Awards, with winners of nine categories to be announced in October.

Hobsons Bay mayor Colleen Gates said small and large local enterprises were invited to nominate for the awards, which recognise locals who have contributed to making the municipality a great place to do business.

“From home-based businesses and start-ups to manufacturers and logistics companies, the business awards bring together people from across the business community to celebrate their successes and achievements,” she said.

“The awards are a great way for local businesses to be recognised for their achievements, gain some publicity and connect with other businesses in Hobsons Bay.

“Previous winners have included Captains Retreat B&B in Williamstown, Paz Group in Brooklyn, Able Industries Engineering in Spotswood, and Burbank and Elle & Stuart, both in Altona.”

This year’s award categories are: home-based, manufacturing and industrial, new/start-up business up to two years old, not-for-profit, professional services, retail and hospitality, tourism, trades and construction and transport and warehousing.

Burbank joint managing director Eddie Sanfilippo, said that his company was proud to have won Business of the Year.

“Hobsons Bay is a great place to do business, and we were honoured to be recognised for our achievements,” he said.

The awards are sponsored by Community Training Initiatives,

Star Weekly, Altona Gate Shopping Centre, Altona and Laverton Community Bank branches Bendigo Bank, Burbank, Deakin University, Dow Chemical, the Victorian Government through Small Business Victoria, The Marketing Project and WynBay LLEN.

Information sessions for prospective entrants will be held on July 15 at 4pm and 6pm.

Winners will be announced at a gala presentation at Williamstown town hall on October 9.
