West Gate Bridge hit run lands woman in hospital, witnesses sought

Williamstown police are appealing for witnesses after an Altona Meadows woman was injured in a hit run on May 28.

The woman, 43, was travelling inbound on the West Gate Freeway, just after the Williamstown exit, when the collision happened about 6.50am.

As she approached the West Gate Bridge, a white tipper truck travelling in the same direction in the next lane clipped her Suzuki Baleno and sent it spinning out of control.

Her car came to a stop after colliding with a second truck.

The driver of the white tipper truck did not stop and continued over the bridge.

The woman was taken to The Alfred hospital with bruising and chest pain, while the two people in the second truck escaped injury.
