A man has been charged with an attempted armed robbery at an Altona North bottle shop on Wednesday.
The 48-year-old man of no fixed address is alleged to have entered a Millers Road bottle shop just after midday.
Police allege he brandished an edged weapon and made demands for cash.
However, he fled empty handed.
Altona North Embona Taskforce detectives arrested the man in Altona about 5.45pm on Wednesday.
He is also charged with an armed robbery at a Werribee service station on the Princes Highway on January 7 about 11pm.
