Twenty new locally acquired COVID-19 cases were recorded on Tuesday as about a dozen tier one exposure sites remained in Maribyrnong and Hobsons Bay.
There were 111 active cases in Victoria.
Health Minister Martin Foley said five of the new cases were in quarantine throughout their infectious period.
He said 34,892 people were tested and 22,670 were vaccinated at state-run centres on Monday.
“Our main concern is, what we don’t have at the moment is enough vaccine for people who want to get vaccinated,” Mr Foley said.
“The west is under-represented when it comes to GP clinics – for all sorts of historical reasons – and … we look forward to … community pharmacies being approved and stocked up as soon as possible as AstraZeneca sites.”
Victoria’s COVID commander Jeroen Weimar said 10 of the new cases were linked to Caroline Springs but the Newport Football Club and Wolf Cafe and Eatery in Altona North continued to be a concern.
Shorten Reserve in West Footscray is a tier one site for the West Footscray versus Newport senior men’s football match on Saturday, July 31.
On Monday, Wolf cafe was added as an exposure site for August 2, 3, 4 and 5 from 6.30am-11pm each day.
“We’ve seen a number of cases associated with Wolf cafe, three generations from one person to customers and then to household contacts,” Mr Weimar said.
“We’re seeing transmission at Newport footy club; I think five people now associated with Newport footy club who have the virus, all from that one match against West Footscray.”
Tier one sites include Lowes, Bad Workwear and Myer’s cosmetics fragrance department at Highpoint Shopping Centre, Yarraville Specialist Centre, Fat Jaks and Elm Rd Family Clinic in Altona North, Eco Laundry and One Stop WorkWear in Braybrook, Elite Sports Performance gym in Spotswood and Tick Tok Cafe in Williamstown.
Tier two sites include Highpoint Shopping Centre, Bunnings Maribyrnong, the management office of Marque apartments in Maribyrnong, Coles Yarraville, Williamstown’s NAB Branch and Piccolo One, Braybrook’s ALDI West Footscray and Metro Petroleum petrol station, Altona North’s BayFit Leisure Centre, Aldi at Millers Junction, Pharmacy 4 Less, Caltex Woolworths and Body Fit Training, West Footscray’s IGA, Bharat Traders Indian Superstore and Pepin’s Pharmacy, Kmart Footscray, Newport 1881 Coffee – Pastries and Star Pizza and Pasta Cafe in Newport.
A drive-through testing site with capacity for 100 vehicles has been established in the carpark of BayFit Leisure Centre in Mason Street, Altona North.
The testing site is open from 8am-8pm daily.
