Bust a move and get yourself on to the newest, greenest buses in town.
The first of 50 new hybrid-technology buses was last week launched on high-capacity routes including Wyndham’s 170, 180, 192, 439, 441 and 443, as well as other routes in the west.
The environmentally-friendly fleet is being introduced by bus operator CDC Victoria, a subsidiary of ComfortDelGro.
All 50 buses in the hybrid fleet will be in service on CDC routes in Wyndham, Oakleigh and Sunshine by mid-2022.
Body manufacturing and fit-outs of the hybrid buses is being completed by Volgren in Dandenong, and all the buses will feature Volvo’s Parallel Hybrid driveline and meet Euro 6 emission standards.
In testing, the driveline was shown to reduce nitrogen oxide and particulate emissions by up to 50 per cent, as well as reduce fuel and carbon dioxide emissions by up to 40 per cent.
CDC Victoria chief executive Nicholas Yap said his team was proud to introduce the buses to the fleet.
“Our new fleet of hybrid buses is an exciting development which demonstrates our ongoing commitment to delivering transport innovation by reducing both the emissions and fuel consumption,” he said.
“As a business, we’re deeply committed to helping shape a better future for the next generation through reducing our carbon footprint.”
