This year’s Williamstown Heritage Beer and Cider Festival promises to provide a very stein time.
One of Melbourne’s oldest ports, Williamstown once had more than 40 pubs within a two-kilometre radius.
In the spirit of those days, Willy Beer Fest organisers are bringing a swag of local brewers to the waterfront Seaworks Maritime Precinct.
There’ll also be live music, food trucks and – new this year – the Willy BBQ Cook Off.
Terri Jackson, of the Waterfront West Group, said there would be a great line-up of independent Aussie brewers alongside a few cider makers.
“Participating brewers include Thunder Road, Hop Nation, Two Birds, Three Greens, Bonehead, Holgate, Cavalier and Colonial, with many more to be announced and 100-plus beers and ciders on offer on the day,” she said.
“Willy Beer Fest works in conjunction with popular venues in the west, including Hop Heads, Prince Albert, Stags Head and Lay Low Bar.
“Our Visit the Breweries campaign encourages ticket-holders to drink at partner exhibitors’ venues.”
The festival has a partnership with Food Bank Victoria, hoping this year to raise $10,000, which equates to 20,000 meals.
The Williamstown Heritage Beer and Cider Festival will be at Seaworks, 82 Nelson Place, Williamstown, on Saturday, November 17 from noon to 7pm. For details and tickets, visit willybeerfest.com.au
