Plans to build three five-storey apartment blocks comprising 57 dwellings on an old Altona petrol station site have been lodged with Hobsons Bay council.
The former Aero Wash n Fuel service station and car wash at 102-106 Pier Street was bulldozed last August to make way for development.
In December, the council refused an application to subdivide the site. The application sought to rearrange existing boundaries to create three parcels of land.
It was refused on the grounds that it failed to comply with residential subdivision and mixed-use zone clauses in the Hobsons Bay planning scheme.
Three applications have since been lodged for the site.
Each application is for a five-storey apartment building with ground-floor retail space and carparking.
Further information has been requested by the council before the application can be advertised.
An adjacent site at 108 Pier Street is being developed into a five-storey, 19-dwelling apartment block.
Another Altona car wash, on the south-west corner of Sargood and Blyth streets, is expected to be redeveloped into an apartment complex with retail at ground level.
A 25-dwelling, four-storey apartment block is being built on the site of the old Boccelli restaurant at 118 Pier Street.
