Altona Meadows woman $1m richer

An Altona Meadows woman is $1 million richer after buying a Lotto ticket on a whim at Central Square Shopping Centre.

The woman, who wanted to remain anonymous, was one of three division one winners nationally in last week’s Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 4062.

She and her husband plan to use the money for their retirement.

“We’ve been planning to retire shortly and this will set us up for the rest of our lives,” she said.

“After the past year we’ve had with lockdowns, this is just unbelievable.

“I guess I’m excited, but I can’t quite believe it.”

The winning 24-game QuickPick was bought at Central Lotto at Central Square Shopping Centre in Altona Meadows.

“I only bought this ticket on a whim,” the woman said.

“I thought, you know what, I might have a go tonight.

“I don’t normally play Monday & Wednesday Lotto at all.

“I was just walking past, and I just decided to pop in and get a ticket and try my luck on a Monday. Luck was on my side.”

Central Lotto owner Bruce Zheng said he was excited to discover his outlet had created a newly-minted millionaire.

“I’m so excited, I can’t believe it,” he said.

“It’s a very good win for our customers during these tough times.

“We hope it has come at the right time for our customers.

“One million dollars is a great amount for them and their family. It’s great for the community too.

“We are so very happy for them. We wish them all the best with their prize.”

The winning numbers were 8, 18, 42, 6, 24, and 21, with supplementary numbers 23 and 37.

The other two winners were from New South Wales and Queensland.
