An Altona mother who was diagnosed with breast cancer five months ago is sharing her story to help others in their battle.
Stacey Crozier, whose son Harrison is 18 months old, will next month host a Biggest Morning Tea for the Cancer Council at the childcare centre Harrison attends to raise funds and awareness.
It was only by accident while playing with Harrison that she discovered a lump.
“I wasn’t going to get tests or checks or anything like that; it was just very random that I found it,” the 39-year-old said.
“My son and I were playing around and he kicked me as I was tickling him and he got me in the left breast.
“Then as I was nursing I felt the lump.
“I went to the doctor two days later and two days after that I was given the positive diagnosis and started chemo a week later.”
Following her diagnosis she has been receiving treatment for the aggressive cancer and will have a mastectomy.
Ms Crozier said she wanted to share her story in the hope it would contribute towards helping others and their battle.
She will host a Biggest Morning Tea on Friday, June 7 from 10am-noon at the hub, 103B Grieve Parade, Altona.
