World champion whipcracker

Just months after Altona whipcracker Nathan ‘Whippy’ Griggs (above) won a Guinness world record for Australia, his American arch-rival snatched it back.

So Mr Griggs had to outdo his adversary, Adam ‘Crack’ Winrich, all over again. Last Wednesday, it was confirmed that the record for most whipcracks in one minute was back in Australian hands.

“I did 614 cracks in a minute. It’s gonna take a bit for him to break that.”

Mr Griggs, 22, first brandished a stockwhip at age 14 and became hooked during an encounter at Big Horse Creek in the Northern Territory.
