Winning a Hobsons Bay Business Excellence Award has been a great thing for Inver Engineering.

The Altona business was named Hobsons Bay Business of the Year in 2015.

Inver Engineering co-owner Graeme Smith is happy to list some of the benefits of the award for the company he runs with brother Stuart.

“Winning the award has been great for our business,” Graeme said. “We would highly recommend other local businesses be a part of these prestigious awards because it does have such a positive impact.

“Achieving a major award is always a good mention when tendering services, as potential customers know they will be dealing with a winning outfit. It increases our credibility within our industry – which covers rail and ports. Metro Trains is our major customer, but some of our guys hire their skills to overseas industry as well.

“It was also a huge buzz for our staff who felt they’d received a solid pat on the back.”

Nominations for the 2017 awards close on August 18. Businesses can enter one of 10 categories, with each entrant in the run for the Mayors Award and category award-winners vying for Business of the Year. The awards will culminate in a gala presentation on October 20.
