Eight new COVID-19 cases have been recorded on Wednesday, including four on the third floor of the Ariele Apartment complex in Maribyrnong.
Highpoint Shopping Centre has been listed as a tier one and tier two exposure site.
Ariele Apartments at 7 Thomas Holmes Street is a tier one exposure site after COVID-positive removalists NSW from collected furniture there on Thursday, July 8.
Victoria’s COVID commander Jeroen Weimar said the four cases were in two separate apartments.
“One is a male in his 60s and one is a household of three people,” Mr Weimar said.
“All other third-floor residents to date have returned negative results.”
The man’s parents in Craigieburn, aged 89 and 90, have also tested positive.
The man visited Highpoint on Friday, July 9, and the Carlton-Geelong match at the MCG on Saturday, July 10. Mr Weimar said 2000 people from MCC reserve had been identified.
SkinKandy, The Reject Shop, Ferguson Plarre and Bras N Things at Highpoint are tier one exposure sites and Aldi, the North Carpark Level one and
Food Court Level one (near Strike Bowling) are tier two exposure sites.
“At this point in time, I would encourage any members of the community who have been in the Highpoint Shopping Centre on Friday, [July 9] between 10 and 2pm to please come forward and get tested,” Mr Weimar said.
“This is clearly a very rapidly moving situation.
“We’re very keen to make sure we get a very firm grip of this as soon as we possibly can.”
Maribyrnong Aquatic Centre has been added as a tier one site.
The seventh case is a man in his 30s who visited Coles at Craigieburn Central Central Shopping Centre, which was listed as a tier one exposure site.
A fourth member of a Craigieburn family who travelled from NSW to Victoria tested positive and was added to Wednesday’s official figures.
