An armed robber struck twice at Central Square shopping centre in Altona Meadows on Thursday morning.
The centre’s owner confirmed the Aldi supermarket and TAB were hit.
Victoria Police spokeswoman Natalie Webster confirmed that police were investigating two armed robberies.
“The first incident occurred just after 10.45am at a betting outlet on Central Avenue, with the second occurring shortly afterwards at a supermarket on the same street,” she said.
“On both occasions, a man armed with a knife entered the premises and made a demand for cash.
“He left without money from the betting outlet.
“However, a small quantity of cash was taken from the supermarket.”
Embona armed robbery taskforce detectives remained at the scene into the afternoon questioning witnesses.
No one was injured during the incidents.
