Yarraville community members are encouraged to keep warm and reactivate their creative or active sides as part of short courses at the Yarraville Community Centre [YCC] throughout August.

YCC is hosting a range of informative and fun online and face-to-face short courses and workshops for all ages and abilities this month.

Adults and children can learn about how to make cheesy pull apart bread on Saturday, August 13 from 2pm to 4pm at the Footscray site.

Kids can also develop their cooking skills as part of a hands-on cooking class on Thursday, August 4 from 4pm until 5.30pm.

Creative adults can learn a range of new skills as part of the short courses, including learning brush lettering on Friday, August 12 from 6.30pm to 8.30pm and a watercolour workshop on Saturday, August 13 from 2pm until 5pm.

YCC manager Christine McCall said the centre is proud of the diversity of courses on offer.

“At Yarraville Community Centre, we’re thrilled to be offering face-to-face as well as online courses and behind the scenes, we’re working hard to bring you the best courses possible, and safely,” she said.

Social opportunities are also available at the YCC, with its Chatty Cafe program continuing to welcome community members to come and have a chat over a cup of coffee or tea every Wednesday from 2pm at 59 Francis Street in Yarraville.

The YCC is also hosting a LGBTQIA2S+ book club every Sunday from 6pm at Hopheads in Yarraville and an online carers meet up every Tuesday from 10am.
