For six weeks only, a pop-up gallery has found its way to Footscray displaying locally created art.
Six western suburbs artists led by Bella Farfaglia have come together to make the pop-up gallery possible.
Ms Farfaglia’s dad has owned the building for 24 years, he has now chosen to sell the building which will not settle until January 31.
With the free space and struggling art community, Ms Farfaglia has chosen to make use of it.
“I have decided to utilise the space while no one was using it to show some of my artwork,” she said.
“I saw the space and what it can do for the community. Many people have shown interest as they have never seen anything like this in Footscray before.”
Ms Farfaglia thought it was a great idea to get as many artists from the community to exhibit their work too, currently there are anywhere between 15-50 pieces on display, changing as things sell.
“We have provided people with a place to come, visit and see what amazing stuff Footscray has to offer,” she said.
“I am trying to reach out to people as we have a spare wall free, I am open to anyone.
“I don’t mind the quality of the work, it is more about my mission of trying to give underprivileged artists a chance, for people that were told to never to believe in their dreams.
“That’s the kind of environment I want to create, a safe space for everybody to show that they can be a part of this life and it is possible for anyone and everyone.”
The pop-up shop is located at 197 Barkly Street, Footscray.
