Asbestos fragments found

Asbestos fragments have been found along the foreshore areas of Cyril Curtain Reserve and Hatt Reserve, Williamstown.

Under the guidance of WorkSafe, Hobsons Bay council officers began removing the fragments earlier this month in accordance with stringent safety procedures.

The removal process is expected to take two weeks and there is no impact to the Bay Trail.

Environmental hygienists have advised that this material does not present an immediate risk to the community, according to a council statement.

Council will work closely with Parks Victoria to continue to monitor the area closely.
