Attempted abduction in Laverton

A man has reportedly tried to abduct a young girl off the street near Laverton P-12 College.

Police have been told a 12-year-old girl was walking in Bladin Street about 9.50am on Tuesday last week when a man emerged from bushes and tried to drag her away.

The girl told police an elderly woman yelled out and the man ran away.

The girl, who was not physically injured, went home and reported the incident to police.

Detectives from the Hobsons Bay crime investigation unit have put out a public appeal for the elderly woman to contact police.

Investigators have released a digital composite of a man they wish to speak to.

He is described as Caucasian, aged 30-40, with a beard and right eyebrow ring.

He was wearing baggy blue jeans, a black hoodie over a black and orange baseball cap, and dark sunglasses.
