Australia Day in Altona and Williamstown

Maverick, 8 months old, will be enjoying his first Australia Day this year, and with the weather scheduled to be hot and humid, many may choose to spend it at Altona or Williamstown Beach.

While Maribyrnong or Hobsons Bay council are not holding any official Australia Day events, apart from Citizenship and Citizen of the Year ceremonies.

Maribyrnong will also be lowering the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags to acknowledge the suffering they have experienced.

The Rotary Club of Altona City will be holding a small event at Central Square Shopping Centre.

The event will start from 10am and conclude at 2pm, and there will be a rotary showcase of local youth and community projects as well as 50 coffee vouchers for teachers in the west who worked during the pandemic.
