Maidstone-based aged care support service Australian Multicultural Community Services’ chief executive Elizabeth Drozd has received the Executive Leader award in the 2022 Leading Age Services Australia [LASA] Excellence in Age Services awards.

Held on Sunday, August 7, the awards recognised Ms Drozd’s work across the organisation’s many services since she took on the leadership role in 2000.

“In any given week, we support about 2000 Victorians with various support and care, depending on what they need,” she said.

“We all want to be independent, but the reality is that there comes a time for some seniors where they are not able to do everything themselves and we are there, as a helping hand.”

The judges said Ms Drozd demonstrated a long history of providing access to people with language barriers, championing anti-ageism and training advocacy to support the vulnerable in our community.

LASA member relations and innovation general manger Kerri Lanchester said Ms Drozd has been a “champion of anti-ageism”.

“The judges commented that Elizabeth’s contribution to the sector and culturally, and linguistically diverse (communities) specifically, has been enormous and impactful.”

“They said it was an outstanding submission and it was obvious that Elizabeth has had a long and illustrious history in multicultural community services.”

Ms Drozd said she hoped her leadership helped others realise their own leadership potentials.
