When Reece Dillon and Jamie Calleja-Bailey heard about their friend Dean Fisher’s bowel cancer diagnosis, they both had the same idea: organising a massive music festival to raise funds for his battle.
A couple of months on and Deanorama is about to hit Hotel Westwood, with 12 bands performing over the 12-hour show on Saturday, November 12 including Harts, Cicadastone, Dukes Veda, Prophetess, RDZJB and Reign Maker.
Harts has featured heavily on Triple J over the last five years both with his own music and the Like A Version segments.
He just finished his sold out Australian Jimi Hendrix Tribute Tour last week.
Dillon said Mr Fisher was a sound engineer at the Hoppers Crossing venue Soundbar.
“A lot of the bands found solace there,” he said.
“He is such a great guy that everyone clicked with.”
Dillon said he contacted Calleja-Bailey after hearing about Mr Fisher’s diagnosis.
“He was already thinking the same things,” he said.
“Dean has always been a huge fan of venues in the west so naturally I locked in Hotel Westwood right away.”
Western Melbourne business Jacq of All Trades – Master of Fun will be providing face painting for young attendees.
Dillon said pay-what-you-want special edition Deanorama stubby holders will be available, as well as raffle tickets for a range of prizes, including a $200 JB Hi-Fi voucher and a brand-new electric guitar.
“We’re open to any local business to provide any prizes as small as a coffee,” he said.
Tickets are available for $20 a head, with all proceeds to go to Mr Fisher.
