Reggae legend Bushman has been announced as the headline performer for Australia’s second Jamaican Music and Food Festival in Williamstown in November.

Festival founder DJ Stick Mareebo said the singer, who last toured Australia eight years ago, would lead a bill of 28 acts at the day-long festival at Seaworks.

He said international and interstate artists would join Melbourne bands, including local favourites Ska Vendors, playing ska, rocksteady, dancehall, dub, roots and reggae.

A stage will be devoted to female DJs or “selectors”.

“We’re going to have a stage dedicated to the queens of reggae music in Australia,” Stick said.

“In Melbourne, they’re quite a phenomenon … there are up to 30 female DJs.”

Stick said there would be more than 20 food vendors serving mostly Jamaican food, including jerk wings, curry goat and Ital Rastafarian vegan food.

The festival will be on Sunday, November 12, from 11am-9pm at Seaworks, 82 Nelson Place, Williamstown. Details: jmff.com.au
