Stage four of the Better Places -Seabrook and Altona Meadows is open for community consultation.

This stage is consultation on draft Place Guide open until Sunday, July, 23.

The Better Places program has recently been developed by Hobsons Bay council to provide a more holistic and integrated approach to thinking about and designing for change into the future of the area.

The Better Places initiative aims to provide a new model for the way that council designs and delivers its projects.

Better Places also aims to more actively involve the community in the process of shaping the place they live in, helping to create a vision that not only reflects their values, ideas and priorities, but also provides practical ideas and clear steps towards turning the vision into real improvements into the future.

The Better Places – Seabrook and Altona Meadows project launched with a public engagement process that ran throughout June 2022.

From the engagement, the vision was created, being broken down into three key themes; Pride of Place and Local Identity, Bringing The Community Closer Together and A Place That Is Easier and Safer To Move Around.

It is envisaged that the main parts of the planning, consultation, design and implementation of the mid to longer-term projects will occur throughout 2023-2028.

If there are projects which locals are particularly interested in or think or would like to contribute to, they can contact council’s customer service number on 1300 179 944.

The Seabrook and Altona Meadows Guide provides a summary of the visioning process undertaken, the community input and key findings and sets out the projects and improvements that will be undertaken into the future.
