Body of missing Altona woman Kayla Steffen found

The body of a young Altona woman who had been missing for five days was found on Thursday.

Kayla Steffen, 24, had not been seen since speaking to her housemates in Lark Street about 2.20am on Saturday.

SES crews from Hobsons Bay, Wyndham, Brimbank and Footscray scoured Truganina Swamp on Tuesday but turned up no clues.

Ms Steffen’s body was found about 10.30am on Thursday in Altona.

Her death is not being treated as suspicious.

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
