Man’s body found
The body of a man found in Maribyrnong on Monday is believed to be that of missing person Huu Lai. Mr Hai was reported missing from Sunshine North on Friday.His body was found in the Maribyrnong River. His death is not being treated as suspicious.Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
Recycling upgrade
Cleanaway has continued the upgrade of its Laverton Material Recovery Facility with an investment of more than $1 million in new equipment to increase plastic recycling. New equipment would allow the separation of plastics such as coloured PET bottles and plastic trays commonly used for meat and fruit, from mixed residual plastic, reducing the amount of plastic sent to landfill.
Name change
Women’s Health West will change its name to GenWest. The board of the organisation, which delivers family violence services and undertakes health promotion in the western suburbs, said the new name would sit alongside the tagline of “Gender justice and change“.
New playground
Hobsons Bay council is building a new playground at Newport’s Digman Reserve. The play space will replace existing play structure at the western end of the reserve, with construction expected to start in April, 2022, and opening in August, 2022.
