Despite a close game, the Western Bulldogs fell short against an undefeated Fremantle in the AFLW.

The Dogs were hot on Freo’s heels throughout the entire game, until a late goal from Fremantle in the fourth term put them in front to steal a 3.7 (25)-2.7 (19) win.

The Dogs managed to put pressure on Freo to ensure they didn’t get on the scoreboard in the first quarter, however they also struggled to convert into goals.

Things ramped up in the second quarter, with both teams scoring two goals and finishing on 16 points a-piece as they went into the main break.

The Dockers edged slightly in front in the third term, heading into the final quarter a mere three points in front of the Dogs.

The Dogs had three attempts at goal in the final quarter with all unsuccessful. Fremantle’s Ebony Antonio was able to secure a major in the closing minutes of the game, which sealed the deal for the undefeated side.

The Bulldogs are still yet to win a game this season.

They’ll hope to change that in this week’s game against Richmond, at VU Whitten Oval on Sunday, February 6.
