Cairnlea man caught speeding

Police have intercepted a driver allegedly travelling 116km/h in a 60km/h zone on Ballarat Road in Footscray.

The 53-year-old Cairnlea man completed an evidentiary breath test and police say he returned a positive blood alcohol concentration result of 0.069.

Police impounded the vehicle at a cost of $878.50 and the driver will appear at the Melbourne Magistrates Court at a later date for charges relating to excessive speed and drink driving offences.
