A national home care company has put the call out for people across the country to fill more than 750 paid home care jobs, including vacancies in the Maribyrnong and Hobsons Bay areas.
Five Good Friends chief executive Simon Lockyer said being a home carer was a “very rewarding” experience and volunteers only need a desire to help and care for people.
“It keeps our older and disabled Australians happier and safer for longer,” he said.
“The flexible contract roles are perfect for anyone looking for full time hours right through to those who need a few hours of care work a week to help make ends meet.”
On average, a home carer earns $37 an hour, works between 14 and 20 hours a week, which equates to $2,500 to $3,650 in monthly income.
Carers can choose when and how often they can work and what type of care they were able to provide.
Altona Meadows resident Luz Roman said she was “very happy” with the work she has received through Five Good Friends.
She said her work has included cleaning, helping with their shopping and running errands for her clients during COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.
“I was happy to lend a hand,” Ms Roman said.
