Footscray Traders Association has launched a #lovefootscray campaign to revive businesses after the COVID-19 pandemic.
President Stuart Lucca-Pope, who also owns Littlefoot Bar, said the campaign was a go-to digital platform for everyone to share their experiences of Footscray.
In response to stimulating the local economy during and beyond a global COVID-19 pandemic, the association received a grant for the initiative from Maribyrnong council, he said.
The hashtag, #LoveFootscray, aims to promote trade and encourage people to use social media to share and promote their businesses, stories and experiences via Instagram, Facebook and other socials.
People are being invited to answer questions like “What do you love about Footscray?”
Is it a place you love, the people and faces, product or service, bargain being offered, promotion or limited offer, program or event?
The association has also launched a YouTube channel (keyword: Love Footscray), which will show 12 unique Footscray experiences.
Some of these videos are online and more will be released over the next month.
“The rising tide floats all boats,” Mr Lucca-Pope said.
“Businesses had an initial boom and then a drop-away.
“But everyone is still very hesitant because of the great unknown because we still are in COVID so people are not booking the parties, not booking large group events or even weddings.
“People are getting to a steady equilibrium but they’re still a lot of uncertainty.”
To get on board the #lovefootscray campaign, add the hashtag to Instagram, Facebook and other accounts.
