Caroline Chisholm students project selves

Braybrook students are shedding light on growing up in a world shaped by advanced technology.

The Caroline Chisholm Catholic College year 10 media students have been working with acclaimed 3D artist Justin Dwyer on producing and showcasing their own 3D ‘projection mapping’ works.

The students have spent recent weeks with Dwyer using state-of-the-art technology to create visual stories exploring themes of communication and identity.

Teacher Claire Virgona said the project, in collaboration with the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, had been an exciting way for the students to gain creative skills while working on a range of subjects.

“It’s been a long process, but this project has bridged a lot of different areas – it has been amazing,” she said.

Student Joel Knight said the project was a chance to imaginatively explore topical issues faced by young people every day.

“We’ve been working with different textures and possibilities … video and images and some film as well,” he said.

Jihad Barbar said the project had been a great learning experience. “We really learnt how to work as a team, how to commit to working together on something.”

The final works were revealed in a showcase at the school last Thursday night.
